We often see our software for sell in forums or even other web sites. We use a number of google searches in our own internal autoblog to keep an eye out for these as they pop up. Some of these sellers are selling their own legitimate license they are no longer using, which they are allowed to do, although many are also selling invalid licenses for our software to honest and unsuspecting buyers.
To assist and protect those buying or selling used AutoBlogged licenses, we decided to publish a few guidelines.
Is the Seller Authorized?
If you want to be sure someone is authorized to sell our software, here is a quick test:
1. No one is allowed to sell our software by itself, although those with developer licenses can sell you a license only when bundled with a developed site.
2. Anyone selling multiple copies of our software certainly isn’t authorized to do so.
3. Anyone who claims to be an authorized reseller definitely is not authorized to sell our software. We only have affiliates that get commissions from sales they refer to us.
4. If someone claims to have an AutoBlogged unlimited license, they do not have the rights to sell or sublicense it to others.
5. If someone is selling and transferring their own license that they are no longer using, you can verify they have a valid license by sending us their full name and/or paypal address to licensing@autoblogged.com and we will verify it for you.
5. After the sale, if you do not receive an e-mail from us with a new serial number, the license you purchased is not valid.
6. We try to monitor popular forums for unauthorized sales of our software, but if you spot one we aren’t aware of and report it to us, we will reward you with your own single-site license for free.
Transferring a License
Here is the proper procedure for transferring an AutoBlogged license:
1. Anyone can sell or transfer their AutoBlogged license to another party but in doing so they will no longer have any rights to use AutoBlogged.
2. When selling a license, you can tell potential buyers they can send an e-mail to licensing@autoblogged and mention your e-mail address (the one you used to purchase) or full name to verify that the license is valid.
3. After a sale is complete, please send an e-mail to licensing@autoblogged.com with your name and serial number along with the buyer’s name and e-mail address and we will promptly issue them a new license in their own name. At that point your license will no longer be valid.
If you have more questions about licensing, please see our licensing FAQ or open a new support ticket.
On a final note, as a software company we realize that software piracy is unavoidable and like other software companies we are forced to accept that as part of the cost of doing business. Nevertheless, its just not cool to be making money selling our software, and it’s totally lame of you to rip off unsuspecting and honest buyers.
